Pattern for Tunisian crochet long cowl

Tunisian Uneek Cowl, pattern with Urth Yarns Uneek Fingering yarn
Tunisian Uneek cowl is a light and cozy long cowl or an infinity scarf for your wardrobe, made with Tunisian crochet.
Wrap the cowl twice around your neck for extra warmth, or wear it hanging long for a fashion statement.

Inspiration
The idea for this design started with the yarn. Two years ago, we were on vacation at the beach, and I was able to visit a couple of yarn stores in the area. And as souvenirs, I got several skeins of different yarns without any particular projects in mind. So the yarn was sitting in my stash, and I finally wanted to use it. This year, I also wanted to expand my skills in Tunisian crochet. Plus, this year we were traveling a lot, and I needed simple, mindless, not very big projects.
Combining all of this, I got an idea to make a long cowl (preferably to use most of 2 skeins, which I have on hand), with an easy-to-remember Tunisian stitch pattern.

Yarn
The yarn that I was eager to use is Uneek Fingering by Urth Yarns.
Urth Yarns Uneek Fingering yarn, color 3025
This is fingering weight yarn, 100% extra fine superwash merino wool, 435 yds (398 m)/ 100 g in variegated (self-striping) colors. I used color 3025 Ocean.
I enjoyed working with this yarn. It is very soft, nicely twisted, and I had no trouble working Tunisian stitches. And the colors! Look at these gorgeous, bright colors! Love it!

If you're wondering how all these colors are distributed throughout the skein, here is my observation: one self-striping sequence makes half of the skein, so a full skein gives you 2 color repeats, and in the full Tunisian Uneek Cowl, I got 4 color sequence repeats.

Construction
The cowl works along the width and as long as you want (or as long as your yarn stretches), and at the end, you need to make one seam to connect 2 short sides together.
If you're not a fan of a cowl, you don't need to seam sides; you can totally leave it as a scarf. In this case, I'll recommend using more yarn to make it longer, or make the width skinnier, if you have only 2 skeins of yarn.

Stitch pattern
I used the Simple Fan stitch pattern for this design. It has only 2 stitches and 2 rows repeat. Very easy to remember and gives you plenty of relaxing crochet time. I included in the pattern written instructions, a chart, and a video tutorial.

Skills needed to make the Tunisian Uneek Cowl
The pattern difficulty is marked as Easy. You’ll need to know how to do basic Tunisian and regular crochet stitches (ch, sl st, Tss, return pass), and Tunisian double crochet. Also, you need to know how to make a seam using a mattress or whip stitch.

Size
The pattern is written for one size.
But the size is easily customizable, you’ll work your preferred width as long as you want.
Finished measurements of the sample: width 11.5” (29 cm), circumference 66” (165 cm).
