Totally Cabled Collection

Updated: Nov 30, 2022

3 knit patterns with cables:

Totally Cabled Collection

The Totally Cabled Collection started with a pair of fingerless mittens as a sample for the yarn shop to highlight the yarn Aymara by Lang Yarns.
The idea was to create 1 skein project. And if you already know a little bit about me, I love projects that are using the yarn almost up to the last inch. So, I decided to make a pair of fingerless mitts from the top down. In this case, I can knit the cuff as long as I want or until I run out of yarn. And the little cake ball of Aymara yarn was perfect to work with from inside and outside of the ball at the same time, so you can work two mitts at a time.
Knitiing 2 mitts at a time
The stitch pattern is my long time favorite, which I used already several times to make gloves. Cables, cables, and more cables with a twisted knit stitch in between.
You'll start the project from almost at the tip of the pinky, work straight down until the thumb. Then for the thumb gusset, you'll cast on stitches using backward loop method (the pattern has a link to the video tutorial), and then finish your work at the cuff.
Totally Cabled Mitts
To complete this project you’ll need to know how to knit in a round with a small circumference. The pattern doesn’t specify how to divide stitches between needles for knitting in the round. You’ll choose your preferable needles (4 DPNs, 5 DPNs, or circular) and divide stitches as you usually do for this type of knitting.
You’ll need 1 skein of Aymara yarn and needles size US 6 (4 mm).
The pattern described 1 size woman medium to fit 8” (20 cm) hand circumference at palm.

The yarn was so soft and lovely, and so nice to work with that I wanted to create a matching hat. And just like that, the Totally Cabled Hat was born.
The hat uses the same cable stitch pattern and for the brim twisted rib that plays very well together with twisted knit stitches in the pattern.
The pattern has 3 sizes, adult small, medium, and large.
Tottaly Cabled Hat
You’ll need slightly over 1 skein of Aymara yarn for the hat. And because of this I highly recommend making a set of hat and mitts together, to use 2 skeins of yarn up to the max.
If you buy 2 patterns together, you’ll get 50% off 2nd pattern (the discount is for Ravelry purchases only). Please always check if the discount was applied, before you click “buy”. If somehow you see the full price, reach out to me first, before you finished your purchase.

I can’t remember why I actually started to make one more item for this collection. Probably because we live in a climate with pretty warm winters, and headbands are sometimes more practical than hats. Or maybe because I just can’t stop knitting those cables. I love cables! Anyway, I created Totally Cabled Headband.
Totally Cabled Headband
Almost the same cable stitch pattern, the difference is for the hat and mitts the pattern worked in the round, for the headband it worked flat with 1 extra row between cable twists, so all the twists you’ll be making on the right side of the fabric.
The pattern gives you 2 options for how wide your headband can be. And it has 4 sizes.

You can buy each pattern from the collection individually, see all the links above, or if you would like to save $, you can buy the whole collection as an eBook on Ravelry, or 3-in-1 collection on Payhip.
