I often make hats to donate to different causes. For a couple of years, I made blue hats for an antibullying campaign Hat Not Hate. And after I began publishing patterns, I decided not only to send hats to @hat_not_hate but also to create a pattern, so other people can use it to make more hats for the same campaign #HatNotHate or to donate hats to the organizations close to their hearts.
If you make hats to donate often and in big quantities, sometimes it is a little boring to do the same pattern over and over again. I, for example, like to change ‘scenery’ aka change patterns when I’m doing it. So, I hope that this pattern V-stitch Striped Beanie will be in your ‘pattern rotation box’ and you’ll have it on hand whenever you need it.
The pattern V-stitch Striped Beanie is a pattern for a simple hat. You’ll start at the crown and work top down using double crochet and V-stitch. It gives you 3 kids' sizes:
Small (2-5 yrs) to fit 18-19” (46-48 cm) head circumference
Medium (6-9 yrs) to fit 19-20.5” (48-52 cm) head circumference
Large (10-16 yrs) to fit 20.5-21” (52-54 cm) head circumference
You can use the large kid's size as an adult small.
The pattern is for worsted weight yarn, you’ll need around 100 yds (90 m), plus/minus depending on the size, and a hook size H (5 mm).
