Big Off-Ravelry event for knitters and crocheters
The end of the year is a busy time for knitters and crocheters. So many people trying to make gifts and be ready for the holidays. And it is a great idea to craft together with friends. So this was the idea of an Indie Gift-A-Long (GAL), that is happening right now on Ravelry, make some gifts and explore new designs and designers. Love this, and I’m a participating designer for the 2nd year already, in this blog post, I talked about this year's event.
Ravelry is good, but it is not for everyone. No matter why you can’t or won’t use it, a great alternative to GAL exists, and it is Fasten Off Yarn-A-Long (FOYAL).
It is an accessible, inclusive stitch-a-long event geared to promoting and supporting independent crochet and knitting designers. FOYAL has a big database of patterns from close to 100 designers this year. Each designer can choose what platform with published patterns they want to promote, their own website, Etsy, LoveCraft, or other websites. FOYAL has a search engine, you can look through the database and find interesting patterns.
And this is not all. You can connect with other crafters and designers to chat and discuss patterns/techniques/yarn etc on Discord, find new friends and ideas, you can play games, and win prizes.Â

Organizers and volunteers did a great job putting together this event! I’m glad that I joined it this year with my designs.
